Snacks: General Snacks are the Achilles heel of healthy feeding. It is an area saturated by unhealthy processed crap which is addictive. There are a few ideas you can use to guide your action.
Combine snacks to offer two to three food groups at the same time:
- Chips with hummus
- Fruit with yogurt and nuts
- Cheese with crackers
- Crackers with peanut butter and fruit
- Pretzels with a glass of milk
Why does this work? It is more substantial and nutritious than eating the chips, crackers, and pretzels alone, in effect a mini-meal. This method also helps with portion control.
Read the label! Not all chips / crackers / pretzels are the same.

- Lower sugar
- Lower salt
- Fewer ingredients
- Whole grains
